NORTH CAROLINA STATE UNIVERSITY

The Ergonomics Center is housed in the College of Engineering at North Carolina State University. The Center works closely with the Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering on research projects, and employs undergraduate and graduate students for both theoretical and applied work. The Center utilizes its own research facility, as well as the Ergonomics Laboratory located in the Industrial Engineering Department.

Founded in 1930, the ABET* accredited Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at NC State University has a distinguished history of outstanding alumni, faculty, and service to North Carolina. The quality of their academic programs, along with the quality and demand for their graduates, allows for strong rapport and interaction with industrial firms and government agencies. Graduates of the department can be found throughout the State and the Southeast in engineering, consulting, healthcare, and manufacturing organizations, among many others.

Served by a distinguished faculty of about 30 members, including several recipients of national and international awards for excellence in teaching, research, and public service, the total value of the Department's research contracts and grants awarded annually now approaches $2 million. With a continuing enrollment of about 230 undergraduate and 90 graduate students, the Department consistently ranks among the top 12 programs nationally in the annual US News and World Report survey.
