Junior or Senior Level Ergonomist

Junior Level:
Candidate should have, at a minimum, a M.S. degree in Ergonomics or related field and a year of experience in developing, managing, and implementing ergonomics programs for business and industry. Must have a workable plan to pursue certification in the science of ergonomics within 4 years (Certified Professional Ergonomist). Must be or have prerequisite background to become an Associate Ergonomics Professional (AEP) within 3 months of hire.

Senior Level:
Candidate should have, at a minimum, a M.S. degree in Ergonomics or related field and four years of experience in developing, managing, and implementing ergonomics programs for business and industry; or B.S. in Engineering or related field with six years experiences in developing, managing, and implementing ergonomics programs for business and industry. Must have certification in the science of ergonomics with the designation Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) preferred.

Both Postions:

Travel required 40% to 60%.

Essential Job Duties:
  • Provide ergonomics consultation as needed to employers and employees in a broad range of business and industry environments.
  • Act as project lead for ergonomics consulting projects, managing internal and external resources as needed (may require guidance with senior staff members).
  • Deliver specific Center training classes (appropriate to background and schedule).
  • Develop and expand Center membership and client base through public meetings, seminars, workshops, and other forums.
  • Develop written proposals for clients with project scope definition and estimates of time for activity completion (may require guidance with senior staff members).
  • Update, create, and review training materials content for technical accuracy, consistency, and image.
  • Propose new course offerings and perform lifecycle analysis to ensure timely and leading edge educational offerings from the Center.
  • Manage students assigned to work within Ergonomics Services functional area.
  • Work in a leadership directed, team-based work environment.
  • Consult with and collaborate on Center activities with other Center professionals, regulatory officials, researchers, and non-Center professionals throughout North Carolina and the United States to fulfill the Center's mission.
  • Contribute to the generation of applied research projects to be conducted in NC State University's Ergonomics Laboratory (Dept. of Industrial & Systems Engineering).
